Styx with special guest Cheap Trick, Ozarks Amphitheater
Styx was phenomenal. There is just not enough concert time for them to play every song I wanted to hear. Miss America, Man in the Wilderness and Castle Walls were absent but seriously, you’d need a 4 hour concert to satisfy their vast library.
Sorry to say, I was a bit disappointed with Cheap Trick. This was the first time I’ve seen them live and the energy was lacking (my wife commented that the lead singer was sitting down for a stretch!) Also, and maybe intentional, the sound was not as crisp and clean as I would like. They played Dream Police early on and even though we all knew it was the song they were playing, it almost didn’t sound like it. Maybe they had an off night, blame it on the rain, I don’t know. I have to say though, Styx made it worthwhile.

About Rock
"Rock music is a way for your soul to express itself loudly and proudly." – Dave Grohl
Rock music brings the electrifying energy of raw guitar riffs, thunderous drum beats, and soulful vocals together to create an unforgettable experience! Rock stands out for its vivacious performances, unparalleled musicianship, and the universal sense of rebellion and freedom it inspires.
History of Rock Music
Rock music has an illustrious history dating back to the mid-20th century. Its roots are deeply entrenched in the blues, country, and jazz genres. The 1950s saw the birth of rock 'n' roll with pioneers like Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and Little Richard. This new sound was marked by its driving rhythms and youthful exuberance, setting the stage for the cultural revolutions of the 1960s.
The 1960s and 1970s were transformative decades, with legendary bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd pushing the boundaries of musical creativity. Rock music became synonymous with the countercultural movements of the time, advocating for peace and challenging societal norms. The genre continued to evolve in the 1980s and 1990s, spawning subgenres such as punk rock, heavy metal, grunge, and alternative rock, each with its distinctive style and impassioned fan base. Today, rock music remains a dynamic force, continually evolving while always staying true to its rebellious roots.
